Building communities around art

Lots of news brewing around ShinyArt HQ lately: the latest and greatest version of the website is due to be “live” in about a month and will enable people to start renting and uploading work to their televisions; both established and emerging filmmakers like  Dean Mermell, Nara Denning, and Greta Schoenberg will be gracing the new site with their artwork; and we are gearing up to look at ShinyArt videos in three different venues within the month!

It’s been busy. And we can’t wait for it to become busier. That’s why we need your help to make us even better.

In part, we started ShinyArt as a vehicle for thrusting contemporary art before new audiences in unconventional spaces with a business model that enabled recurring royalties to be generated for artists. In an age of dwindling resources for the arts at all levels of the profession, ShinyArt’s presence is an insistent reminder of the vitality of artwork and of the life and power that it brings to any society.

Sooooo  – that brings me to our extended mission of corporate social responsibility. We would very much like to try and explore opportunities to partner with non-profits that support media art. Eventually, we want a portion of ShinyArt’s profits to be shared with one or two such organizations that are national in scope, and serious in their missions.

IF YOU ARE AWARE OF A NON-PROFIT THAT SUITS THIS PROFILE, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.  Many, many thanks for your suggestions!!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates that involve a rocking launch party in January!!!
