Um, I said “Om”

The first sound resonating throughout the universe heralding the source of all existence. Not bad for just a sound, eh? This is the powerful monotone that I hear in my head every time I take a look at the work of ShinyArt artists Christopher J. Hobby and R.J. Morey.

It takes some time to get used to looking at the soft undulating waves that ripple and pulsate through many of Hobby and Morey’s works – we just aren’t use to slowing down bodies and brains long enough to  contemplate a slowly drifting images. Sometimes it takes sheer willpower to relax and ease down a bit; it can be tough, but it is always worth it in the end because contemplative moments can also be replenishing ones that generate – rather than take – energy.

These are some of ideas behind Hobby’s organic graphics and Morey’s haunting electronic sounds. Think spa-like relaxation and reflection…..think of quiet yet monumental sacred spaces…think of an ideal state of peace.
