Jury is out

I wouldn’t want to judge this one…..

The YouTube/Guggenheim partnership that promises to bring obscure video artists into one of the most prestigious exhibition spaces in the world, has apparently received over 6,600 submisions already. Yikes!

They have also just announced the jury for the competition which is an eclectic mix of performance artists, new media artists, musicians and filmmakers. Are these people really going to agree?? I would love to be a fly on the wall to listen to Takashi Murakami, Shirin Neshat and Laurie Anderson hash it out. Actually, they SHOULD podcast that conversation   – I want to hear how such iconic artists think about emerging work.

Check out the new work by Christopher John Hobby and R.J. Morey at ShinyArt…more about this later!
