Is that art on your phone or are you just happy to see me??

Just when you thought you couldn’t take it with you – here are some clever artists telling you that you can (on the bus, the train, the office, the park, the grocery store…)…..and HOW.

Got a Palm? An Android? An IPad? IPhone? The Afflatus Project is dedicated to promoting art on basically any screen that you have kicking around in your knapsack, briefcase, or pocket. I ask you – how cool is that?

Let’s just ponder for a minute what this means for the traditional ways in which people view and experience art. Rather than the mapped tour of art consumption offered by museum that governs how and when we see art, and even how we think about it, art on mobile devices delivers a certain level of freedom to the viewer while challenging those crumbling walls of authority.

Another function of this art is that it pushes artists to start thinking about relating to their audiences and their presentation spaces in new, innovative ways.

If this grabs you – check this out too.
And it keeps getting better.…I add this because I think this issue speaks directly to this need to find alternative venues for displaying video art.

These guys are definitely onto something….Now what does this idea remind me of?????

I have been promoting the idea of art on mobile devices for a couple of years. With the HD quality of these devices these days, the quality of the artwork is outstandingly good. My own animated digital art looks like glowing jewels on such devices, and of course the square wave sound environment of mobile devices such as my Ipod touch is perfect for my partners digital electronic frequencial music.

Our collaborations are intended for taking everywhere with you for when you want to relax, and our productions are ideal for commuters and busy executives who need to relax on the go, simply plug your eyes and ears into our slo/mo visual/musical productions and be mesmerised and drift off into peace and before you know it you feel refreshed.
